FAQ’s

HOW LONG WILL MY SPRAY TAN LAST?

Your tan can last between 5 to 7 days or more with proper after care. Tanning extenders are a great way to prolong your tan longer. When your tan fades, usually the face and hands are the first to fade then the rest of your body. Like a suntan the tan will gradually fade away as the skin naturally exfoliates.

CAN I USE DEODORANT OR PERFUME AFTER MY SPRAY TAN?

We recommend not using any perfume or deodorant on the skin until after your first rinse. If perfume is needed you can apply it to your clothing, NOT skin. Deodorant maybe used if needed, just be aware that it can cause your underarms to turn green or cause discoloration.

WHAT LOTION SHOULD I USE TO MOISTURIZE WITH?

The secret to a radiant spray tan is having nourished, moisturized skin!! There are specifically designed lotions that were made for spray tan maintenance.

AVOID Lotions with mineral oils, fragrance, parabens, sulfates, or phthalates. These chemicals can smudge, strip, or streak a tan…

(THIS GOES FOR YOUR BODY SOAP TOO)

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR DURING & AFTER MY SPRAY TAN?

During your spray tan you can wear whatever you’re most comfortable with: For women, a swimsuit or underwear for tan lines, or if you feel comfortable going naked!

After you get sprayed please wear dark loose fitting clothing, preferably loose pants & long sleeve t-shirt with flip flops. Please NO jeans or leggings. Avoid tight clothing, bras, elastic, tops with straps, buckles, belts.

HOW LONG AFTER MY SPRAY TAN IS IT OKAY TO EXERCISE?

Exercising excessively after being spray tanned can cause you to perspire. Sweat acts as a barrier to the spray tan and will stop the spray tan developing in the area that you sweat. It is best to delay exercise for 12-24 hours after you have had your first rinse.

HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE TO TAN IN THE TANNING BED?

The new Texas law prohibits anyone under the age of 18 from using tanning beds, even with parent's permission.

WHAT CAUSES A CLIENT TO HAVE NO COLOR AFTER A SPRAY TAN?

There can be a number of variables that can impact such as:

1. Rapid tans mean you can shower early and sometimes there is an expectation that the color will be fully developed after one or two hours, when the tan is still developing up to 12 hours in some cases until full color is evident after your first rinse.

2. The client has expected to see instant color upon showering and not waited for the full development time required for color.

3. Hormonal changes caused through medications, drugs, illness, and pregnancy can negatively impact the tan. In extreme cases the tan may not even take.

HOW OFTEN CAN I TAN IN THE TANNING BED?

No individual is allowed to use a tanning device more than once every 24 hours.

WHEN SHOULD I SHAVE BEFORE & AFTER MY SPRAY TAN APPOINTMENT?

It is advisable to shave the day before your spray tan appointment. Doing this allows time for the pores to close up so there is less chance of any black spot effects in the pores.

If you shave after your spray tan application you will accelerate the exfoliating process. You can also cause your spray tan to exfoliate unevenly leaving the spray tan looking patchy.

If you do shave your legs the day of your spray tan please make sure that you give the shaved area a light exfoliation to make sure that no left over residue from the product is left on the skin, which can potentially act as a barrier and block the solution from being able to develop through to it's full color.

IF I HAVE A DARKER SPRAY TAN WILL IT LAST LONGER?

No! The tan will last longer by liberally applying moisturizer regularly.

The heavier the spray tan application (the more spray tan tanning solution that is applied onto the skin), yes the darker you will look, however the more patchy the tan can wear off the skin.

Moisturize! Moisturize! Moisturize!

WHEN DO I NEED TO GET WAXED BEFORE MY SPRAY TAN APPOINTMENT?

It is advisable to wax at least 24 hours prior to your spray tan appointment. It is not advisable to get a wax after being spray tanned. Waxing can remove the top layer of the skin thus removing the top layer of the tan. Doing a wax after being spray tanned will leave the tan looking uneven and patchy.

WHAT CAUSES A TAN TO GO ORANGE?
